Aktivitas ekstrak Piper retrofractum Vahl menggunakan MAE sebagai penangkap radikal DPPH

Abstract

Radikal bebas diketahui dapat menyebabkan stres oksidatif, yang berkontribusi terhadap berbagai penyakit degeneratif seperti kanker dan penyakit kardiovaskular. Piper retrofractum mengandung senyawa bioaktif seperti flavonoid, alkaloid (piperin), saponin, dan tanin, yang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan tinggi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah penggunaan metode Microwave-Assisted Extraction (MAE) untuk mengekstrak senyawa aktif dari cabe jawa. Metode ekstraksi dilakukan dengan etanol 70% pada suhu 60°C selama 10 menit. Aktivitas antioksidan diuji menggunakan metode DPPH. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak cabe jawa memiliki nilai IC50 sebesar 50,4 µg/mL, yang mengindikasikan aktivitas antioksidan kuat. Korelasi antara dosis ekstrak dan efektivitas antioksidannya menunjukkan pola linier, di mana semakin tinggi konsentrasi ekstrak, semakin besar daya antioksidannya. Kesimipulannya penelitian ini adalah  cabe jawa dapat dikembangkan sebagai bahan baku suplemen kesehatan dalam menangkal stres oksidatif.
