JUBIDA – Jurnal Kebidanan is committed to maintaining the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the scholarly record. The journal recognizes that errors may occasionally be identified in manuscripts after publication, whether they originate from the authors, the editorial process, or the production process.
The journal provides a transparent procedure for correcting published articles when necessary. Corrections are handled fairly and promptly to ensure that readers have access to accurate scientific information, particularly in research relevant to midwifery, maternal and child health, reproductive health, and healthcare practice.
JUBIDA – Jurnal Kebidanan distinguishes between different types of post-publication changes according to the nature and significance of the error.
A publisher correction may be issued when an error is introduced during copyediting, typesetting, proofreading, or publication.
Examples include:
Typographical or formatting errors that affect the presentation or interpretation of information.
Incorrect author names, affiliations, or other publication metadata.
Errors in tables, figures, references, or other production elements.
Incorrect DOI, publication date, or bibliographic information.
An author correction may be issued when an author identifies an error in the published article that requires correction.
Examples include:
Incorrect numerical values or descriptions that do not invalidate the main findings.
Errors in tables, figures, or supplementary materials.
Incorrect statements or references that require clarification.
Omission of relevant funding, acknowledgment, ethics approval, or conflict-of-interest information.
All proposed corrections are subject to editorial assessment. A correction will only be published when the editorial team determines that it is necessary and appropriate.
Authors, readers, reviewers, and other interested parties may report suspected errors in published articles to the JUBIDA editorial office.
Reports should include:
The title and bibliographic details of the published article.
The DOI or URL of the article, where available.
A clear description of the suspected error.
The relevant page, section, table, figure, or other location.
Supporting evidence and the proposed correction, where possible.
The editorial team will assess the report and may contact the corresponding author or other relevant parties to obtain clarification or supporting documentation.
The Editor-in-Chief or an authorized editor will evaluate the reported error based on its nature, significance, and potential impact on the article's accuracy and conclusions.
The editorial team may:
Correct a minor production error without issuing a separate formal notice when the correction does not affect the scientific meaning and applicable publishing practices permit it.
Publish a formal correction notice when an error needs to be documented in the scholarly record.
Request additional information or clarification from the authors.
Consult an independent expert when the scientific implications of the error require further assessment.
Initiate a research integrity investigation if the issue suggests possible misconduct or unreliable research findings.
The journal will distinguish between honest errors, editorial or production mistakes, and suspected research misconduct. An error alone does not establish misconduct.
When a formal correction is necessary, JUBIDA – Jurnal Kebidanan will publish a clearly identified correction notice linked to the original article.
Where applicable, the correction notice will include:
The title and authors of the original article.
The original article's DOI or URL and publication details.
A clear description of the error.
The corrected information.
An explanation of whether the correction affects the interpretation, results, or conclusions of the article.
The date of publication of the correction notice.
The original article and correction notice will be linked to each other where technically possible. The journal will maintain the original publication record and indicate that a correction has been issued.
If an error affects a portion of the research but the main findings and conclusions remain reliable, the journal may publish a correction that clearly identifies the affected information.
If the error substantially undermines the reliability of the research findings or conclusions, a correction alone may not be sufficient. The editorial team will assess whether an expression of concern or retraction is warranted in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies and relevant COPE guidance.
The journal will take particular care when errors may affect clinical interpretation, maternal and neonatal healthcare decisions, patient safety, or recommendations for midwifery practice.
An Expression of Concern may be published when there are serious questions regarding the reliability or integrity of a published article but the available evidence is insufficient for an immediate decision on correction or retraction.
An Expression of Concern may also be considered when a relevant investigation is ongoing and its outcome is expected to take considerable time.
The notice will identify the article concerned, explain the reason for the concern as clearly as appropriate, and be linked to the original publication. The journal may update the notice when further evidence becomes available.
Retraction may be considered when there is clear evidence that a published article is unreliable or seriously compromised.
Reasons may include:
Major errors that invalidate the findings or conclusions.
Fabrication or falsification of research data.
Plagiarism or serious redundant publication.
Unethical research practices that compromise the validity or ethical acceptability of the work.
Other serious violations of publication ethics that undermine confidence in the article.
Retraction is intended to correct the scholarly record and alert readers that the article's findings should not be relied upon as originally published. It is not intended solely as a punishment for authors.
A retraction notice will clearly identify the article, explain the reason for retraction, and link to the original publication. The original article will remain accessible where possible and will be clearly marked as retracted, subject to applicable legal and ethical requirements.
Authors are responsible for reviewing their published articles and promptly informing the editorial office if they identify a significant error.
When a correction is proposed, authors must provide accurate information, supporting evidence, and a clear explanation of the necessary changes. All relevant authors should be informed of the proposed correction.
Authors are expected to cooperate with the editorial team during the assessment process. Disagreements among authors regarding a correction will be evaluated fairly and may require additional documentation or consultation with the relevant institution.
Decisions regarding corrections, Expressions of Concern, and retractions are made independently by the editorial team based on the available evidence, the significance of the issue, and applicable publication ethics standards.
The journal will handle all cases fairly, transparently, and confidentially where appropriate. Relevant conflicts of interest will be managed to protect editorial independence.
JUBIDA – Jurnal Kebidanan considers the correction of published errors an essential part of responsible scholarly publishing. The journal is committed to preserving the accuracy of the scientific record and ensuring that corrections, Expressions of Concern, and retractions are issued whenever warranted.
This policy is informed by relevant publication ethics guidance, including recommendations from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
