JUBIDA – Jurnal Kebidanan is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics, transparency, accountability, and fairness in determining authorship and contributorship. This policy ensures that individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to research in midwifery, maternal and child health, reproductive health, pregnancy, postpartum care, and related healthcare fields receive appropriate recognition.
JUBIDA follows established publication ethics principles and refers to the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) in handling authorship-related matters.
To qualify as an author of a manuscript submitted to JUBIDA, an individual must meet all four of the following criteria:
Substantial Contribution: Make substantial contributions to the conception or design of the study, data collection, analysis, interpretation of data, or other significant scientific aspects of the research.
Drafting or Critical Revision: Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
Final Approval: Review and approve the final version of the manuscript to be submitted and published.
Accountability: Agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work and ensure that questions concerning the accuracy, integrity, or ethical conduct of the research are appropriately investigated and resolved.
Administrative support, funding acquisition alone, general supervision, routine data collection, or providing facilities does not automatically qualify an individual for authorship.
Individuals who have contributed to the research or manuscript preparation but do not meet all four authorship criteria should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, where appropriate and with their consent.
Examples of contributions that may be acknowledged include:
Assistance with data collection, participant recruitment, or research administration.
Technical or clinical assistance that does not constitute a substantial intellectual contribution.
Language editing, proofreading, or translation services.
Provision of facilities, equipment, funding, or administrative support.
All contributions must be described accurately and transparently. Acknowledgment must not replace authorship for individuals who meet the established authorship criteria.
The corresponding author serves as the primary contact between the author team and the JUBIDA editorial office and is responsible for:
Ensuring that all listed authors meet the journal's authorship criteria.
Confirming that all authors have reviewed and approved the final manuscript.
Obtaining agreement from all authors regarding the author list and order of authorship.
Ensuring that author names, affiliations, email addresses, and other required information are accurate.
Ensuring that relevant research ethics approvals, informed consent requirements, and research disclosures are appropriately reported, where applicable.
Managing editorial correspondence and communicating editorial decisions and revision requests to all co-authors.
Ensuring that all authors are informed of any proposed changes to authorship.
The corresponding author must not make authorship decisions unilaterally on behalf of other authors.
Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors after manuscript submission must be submitted formally to the JUBIDA editorial office by the corresponding author.
The request must include:
A clear written explanation of the reason for the proposed change.
Written confirmation from all authors concerned, including any individual being added or removed.
Confirmation that all authors agree with the revised author list and order.
All changes are subject to editorial review and approval. If an authorship dispute cannot be resolved, the journal may suspend manuscript processing and seek clarification from the authors' affiliated institutions or follow applicable publication ethics guidance.
If two or more authors have contributed equally to the research or manuscript, this contribution may be indicated in the manuscript using an appropriate statement or footnote, subject to the journal's publication format.
The corresponding author must inform the editorial office of any equal-contribution designation during submission.
JUBIDA does not permit unethical authorship practices, including:
Gift or Honorary Authorship: Listing individuals who have not made the contributions required for authorship, including solely because of seniority, position, or institutional status.
Ghost Authorship: Omitting individuals who meet the journal's authorship criteria.
Misrepresentation of Contributions: Providing inaccurate descriptions of the roles or contributions of authors.
Unauthorized Authorship Changes: Adding, removing, or changing the order of authors without the required agreement.
Suspected authorship misconduct will be assessed in accordance with the journal's publication ethics procedures and relevant COPE guidance. Depending on the circumstances, the journal may request clarification, suspend editorial processing, reject a manuscript, contact the relevant institution, or take appropriate post-publication action.
JUBIDA encourages authors to describe individual contributions transparently. Where appropriate, authors may use the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT) to identify contributions such as:
Conceptualization
Methodology
Investigation
Data Curation
Formal Analysis
Validation
Resources
Writing – Original Draft
Writing – Review & Editing
Visualization
Supervision
Project Administration
Funding Acquisition
The reported roles must accurately reflect the actual contributions of each individual. A contribution statement does not replace the requirement to meet all authorship criteria.
For manuscripts involving human participants, patients, health records, pregnant women, mothers, infants, or other vulnerable populations, authors must report applicable research ethics approval and informed consent procedures in accordance with relevant regulations and ethical standards.
Authors must ensure that participant confidentiality and privacy are protected. Where applicable, the manuscript must identify the approving ethics committee and approval number. Any exemption from ethics review or consent requirements must be justified and reported transparently in accordance with applicable institutional and regulatory requirements.
The JUBIDA editorial team evaluates authorship concerns in accordance with this policy, the journal's publication ethics procedures, and applicable international guidance. The journal may request supporting documentation or clarification when necessary to ensure the integrity of the publication process.
By submitting a manuscript to JUBIDA, all authors are expected to confirm that the authorship information is accurate, that all listed authors have approved the submitted manuscript, and that the manuscript complies with the journal's publication ethics requirements.
